Emily Tarrant
Emily is the founder of YoGology and studio owner. She is a Yoga Alliance registered Yoga Teacher and Certified Meditation Teacher.
Emily began practicing yoga regularly in 2019 and it quickly became an important part of her life. Emily is an advocate of yoga as more than a physical practice, having experienced the benefits of meditation, pranayama and the application of yogic philosophy in her own life. Her passion lies in teaching yoga as a holistic practice that can be applied as much ‘off the mat’ as it can ‘on the mat’ to help people live healthier, happier and more fulfilled lives.
In 2021, Emily became a Certified Meditation Teacher after undertaking a 100-hour meditation teacher training course with the British School of Meditation, one of the most established meditation schools in the UK. In February 2024, she completed a second 100-hour meditation teacher training course with Dr Keshava at Sarvaguna Yoga in Goa, India.
Outside of teaching yoga and meditation, Emily works as a Registered Psychologist, and she is particularly passionate about yoga and meditation as tools to enhance wellbeing and reduce psychological distress.
Emily teaches accessible, dynamic, vinyasa style classes with a physical and philosophical theme. In her classes, you will work with each theme for a number of weeks to enable a deeper exploration of the theme.
She would love to support you in exploring this practice.
Liz Brinkmann
My induction into yoga was over 10 years ago at a gym. I rocked up to this yoga class not really knowing what to expect and totally out of my depth, but something deep down in my gut was telling me to go give it try… this first ever class was an Ashtanga practice. As soon as I finished my first round of Surya Namaskar A (a series of poses that show up in Ashtanga Yoga), I knew that I wouldn’t look back. From that moment, my love of the yoga tradition and practice just grew.
Over the years, I have maintained a regular practice of a strong Vinyasa, Astanga and Rocket style, along with Yin (always good to put some yin to your yang on occasion!) and Hatha.
Last September, I took the leap to further my yoga journey and completed my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training Course. My teacher training accreditation was with Jason Crandell and I am Yoga Alliance registered.
Influenced by my background in Ashtanga and Rocket style practice, my classes consist of a strong Vinyasa practice with a focus on cultivating power, precision and mindfulness. My classes aim to support students to develop whole body awareness and a sensory experience of union. My classes are accessible, whilst being demanding in nature, making the practice suitable for mixed level students. They are invigorating, energising and challenging for everyone.
Kath Hartley
Kath has been practicing yoga for almost ten years and qualified as a 200-hour Vinyasa Yoga Teacher in 2021. Since then, she has gone on to complete various additional teacher training courses in a variety of styles of yoga.
Having spent many years working in hospitality or sat behind a desk, feeling stressed and often not sleeping well, Kath decided to make a change and take this yoga thing seriously. She found that it had a profound effect on her life.
“Yoga has made an enormous change to my life, positively affecting my physical, mental and emotional state – and this is something I would like to share with my students. For me, yoga isn’t about whether or not you can do the splits, it’s about working with your body and mind to achieve something you never even knew you were capable of.”
Kath’s classes are dynamic yet nourishing, with a focus on building strength, working with the breath to calm the mind, and meditation for focus. She loves tailoring classes towards the specific needs of students, helping them to achieve their goals, and having fun in the process!
Lydia Brown
After university, Lydia travelled around Asia with the intention of spending an extended period living and working in Australia after this. Whilst in Bali in 2017, she discovered yoga, signing up to her first yoga class with the anticipation that it would enhance her active lifestyle, which included distance running. After settling in Australia, Lydia found a yoga studio and discovered that yoga enabled her to express herself by finding creativity in movement in ways which were beyond her expectations.
In 2019 after a period spent living in Australia, Lydia travelled to Rishikesh in India to complete a 200 hour Vinyasa & Ashtanga teacher training course. Since then, she has completed further training in Restorative Yoga, Yoga Nidra & Mindfulness. In addition, she completed a further 300 hour advanced teacher training course in 2022, this time in Nepal.
Lydia aims to inspire her students with dynamic, creative & strong sequences which combine her love of music. Lydia creates safe spaces in which students can move as a way of expressing themselves, coming away from each class feeling a little lighter and with an enhanced self-connection.
Lucy Clafton
Lucy first discovered yoga at her local gym as a teen. Naturally the physical practise is what drew her in - she has a background in movement and is a strong advocate for moving our bodies.
Lucy loves the feeling at the end of a flow. She feels that, unlike other forms of exercise, yoga brings a stillness, a sense of calm and an overall feeling of lightness both in the body and mind.
Lucy's decision to complete her Yoga Teacher Training happened on a whim, however it was something she had thought about on and off for a long time before deciding to take the plunge and travel to beautiful Bali where she completed her 200 hours Yoga Alliance accredited teacher training course.
Lucy teaches vinyasa based classes. In her classes you can expect a dynamic flow set to music.
Iain Ross
I found Yoga at a time when I was dealing with what I now know to be chronic stress and anxiety. I would practice during my lunch at my local Yoga studio and for those 45 minutes I could find just a glimmer of peace. I didn’t understand why back then, I just knew I needed to know more.
Over the years that followed I fell in and out of love with the practice. I would often become frustrated if I couldn’t “perfect” certain postures. I’m not the most flexible yogi you see, bendy Wendy folding herself in two next to me always felt pretty disheartening.
Having practiced Yoga for many years I finally took the steps to explore my teacher training with Yoga Hero in Leeds. I shed my inner perfectionist. I learnt that āsana is the tip of the iceberg and I began to look inwards. My practice changed forever.
I have since had the great privilege to continue learning with some of the leading practitioners and teachers in the Yoga world.
Fuelled by a deep-rooted desire for knowledge and a thirst to know more, my teaching represents my great pride to be able to share Yoga with the world. I feel it is my dharma - my life’s purpose - to be on this path and to use my own hardships to help people heal. I consider it my great privilege to offer guidance to anyone who joins me on the mat.
My classes will always be a space for everyone to explore Yoga; all abilities, bodies and back stories. All ages, genders, sexualities, colours, races, creeds and absolutely everything in-between. If Yoga means union, then let it unite us.
Freya Newbegin
Born in Shropshire, Freya moved to Leeds aged 19 to study at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance. During her time at university, Freya began practicing yoga to supplement her physical dance training and since then she has continued to develop her own personal practice and found a deep passion for vinyasa flow yoga. In 2015, Freya embarked on a teacher training course in the hope to pass on her passion for yoga and begin running her own classes. She trained at Trimurti Yoga in Goa, India and received her 200HR Yoga Alliance certificate in multi-style yoga. During her training, she explored Ashtanga, Hatha, Vinyasa flow, and Yin yoga practices as well as mindfulness and philosophy. She has since taken 150HR Yin Yoga training with Josh Summers and is currently undertaking a 30HR Yoga Anatomy CPD with Doctor Yogi.
Freya loves being creative within her teaching and enjoys exploring unusual flow sequences and transitions between the asanas. She teaches with an emphasis on functional movement and encourages students to tune into their bodies so they can take greater control of their practice.
Leanne Lloyd
I started practicing yoga about 18 years ago thinking it would benefit me physically, but soon realised it also helped with my mental health struggles.
I am a practicing dentist and a qualified functional nutritional counsellor, but yoga is my passion.
I teach Vinyasa, flowing at a pace that allows us to connect with the body and make adjustments to ensure that we practice safely.
I am passionate about highlighting the subtle physical and energetic movements that can be made to the body to advance your practice at a rate that’s good for you.
I also like to delve into the philosophical side of yoga and will often incorporate a theme into my classes.
I just love yoga, the way it makes me feel and want to share it with everyone I meet.
Ella Mooney
Ella found yoga at the early age of 16, then began practising regularly at university. It was more of a hobby at this time but she knew she wanted to dive deeper.
After graduating, Ella immediately flew to Australia and that's where she really fell head over heels in love with the ancient practice of yoga.
Ella began her own teacher training in 2016 which was a year long 800hr programme at Byron Yoga Centre. Since then, she has continued to study under those who inspire her greatly including Bess Prescott, Lara Zilibowitz, Shiva Rea and Maria Kirstin, all of which Ella has completed numerous advanced teacher trainings with in an array of topics within the field of yoga.
Sarah Garg
Over the last decade, I've been volunteering with the recycling team at Glastonbury and the healing fields have proved far more alluring than in previous years and it is at Glastonbury where I experienced my first sound bath. But why wait for Glasto? I couldn't! So, I did some research, undertook my training in Crystal Bowl Sound Therapy with Chang Mai Holistics based out in Thailand, so that I could share these magical and mesmerising sounds with the wider community.
Physical and mental wellbeing are of utmost importance to living a healthy life and require practice and dedication. The ancient and calming sounds of the bowls can help to rebalance the seven chakras (energy centres) and quiet a busy mind.
Sound healing, or sound baths, have been practiced since ancient times. The concept of sound therapy is based upon the idea that every part of your body creates a vibration which resonates in a certain way. Put another way, vibrational healing is based on the idea that everything in the universe, including our bodies, is in a state of vibration.
Each and every sound bath experience is unique, and you can expect to leave feeling relaxed, rested and rebalanced. My aim since Glastonbury has been to bring this beautiful experience into the wider community, and I am absolutely thrilled to be collaborating with Yogology and cannot wait to see you there.
